Community Care and Consultation

As African-Caribbean Carers it is important that Sandwell Health Authority and Sandwell Social Services hear your views on their services.

As Carers your specific needs should be registered. This will help the agencies make their services meet your needs.

If you want to express your opinion and have your voice heard, then join the Carers network by completing the appropriate form and return it to Cares.

Are you a Carer?

A Carer is someone who spends time looking after another person who is elderly, sick or disabled.

The person you care for may be:

  • a relative
  • a partner
  • a friend
  • a neighbour

You do not have to be living with the person you are caring for and can be caring for them on a full time or part time basis.

Cares Sandwell African Caribbean Carers Project aims to:

  • identify African-Caribbean Carers and provide culturally sensitive one-to-one support
  • identify their needs and the difficulties they face using existing services.
  • give advice and information on services such as, welfare benefits, relief from caring responsibilities and practical help in the home.
  • enable African-Caribbean Carers to take part in the planning and development of services to ensure those services meet their needs.
  • encourage and enable African-Caribbean Carers to join the Support groups.

Please contact the African-Caribbean Carers Development Officer at Cares.
