Cares Sandwell

CARES Sandwell is a local voluntary organisation which provides a comprehensive information, advice and support service to carers and elderly, sick or disabled people living in Sandwell.

Who are Carers?

Carers are people of every age, colour, class and religion. A carer is someone looking after a child, a parent, spouse, a family member, friend or neighbour who cannot manage on their own because of a physical or mental disability; or has a physical or mental illness; or whose health is impaired by old age.

Cares Sandwell Asian Carers Project

The Asian Carers Project is a new initiative in the borough. It supports carers from a diversity of cultures.

The aims of the project are:

  • To identify Asian carers and provide culturally sensitive one-to-one support.
  • To identify their needs and the difficulties they face using existing services.
  • To give advice and information on services such as: welfare, benefits entitlements, relief from caring responsibilities and practical help in the home.
  • To enable Asian carers to participate in the planning of services to ensure services meet their needs.
  • To encourage and enable Asian carers to join the support groups.

If you identify yourself as a carer then please contact the Asian Development Worker at Cares.
