Khushi - Sandwell Asian Mental Health Service | Print |

The Khushi Service offers a tailor made service which aims at enabling individuals to live their lives as independently and fully as possible.

Khushi was set up to meet the needs of the Asian community in Sandwell, particularly focusing on people enduring mental ill health.

The Service recognises the particular needs and sensitivities of people from an Asian background enduring mental ill health. It also recognises the pressures that fall on some individuals and families as a result.

The Service sets out to provide support for individuals and carers in a culturally sensitive manner, considering all issues relevant to the diverse groups in Sandwell.

What Khushi provides

Khushi provides three main types of support:

  • Help with day to day tasks, enabling access to community facilities, help and advice on practical issues and support through crisis situations as well as personal care/support.
  • Advocacy - enabling people to speak up for themselves to reach all available support and services in the community.
  • Interpreting - to help people who do not have English as their first language.
