Mr Jarnail Singh

 The Sikh Healthy Living Project began in September 2002 and is a borough wide project funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund through Sandwell's three Primary Care Trusts. It is supported by the Community Health Network and managed by the Sandwell Council of Sikh Gurdwaras.

 

The project employs a full time Health Development Worker, Mr Jarnail Singh.

Main aims and objectives of Sandwell Sikh Healthy Living Project:

  • To work towards improving the quality of life for the local Sikh Community.
  • To contribute to CHN and NRF targets of reducing inequalities and improving health of the target community and capacity building at neighbourhood level.
  • To identify health needs of the Sikh Community in Sandwell with particular emphasis on deprived neighbourhoods.
  • Promote Healthy Living by organising Open Health Day, workshop and seminars at Gurdwaras / community centres.
  • Produce health related Bi-Lingual material in Punjabi and English for the local Sikh Community.
  • To develop effective links with PCT structures, Health Development Workers forum and other networks.
  • To prepare and submit funding applications for agreed projects.
  • To promote main service providers among the local Sikh Community.
  • To research and develop project proposals that will seek to meet identified needs amongst the local Sikh Community in Sandwell.
