"Umeed Ki Kiran"

Ray Of Hope

SPMA has opened a new centre in Smethwick providing a range or services for the local Pakistani community. There are a number of activities aimed at helping people develop skills in IT, languages and more. There are also informal academic and recreational courses for women and children.

The centre will address many of the problems faced by the town's 3,500-strong Pakistani community. A partnership between Sandwell Muslims Organisation and Smethwick Pakistani Muslims Organisation, this centre will deliver a range of services including advocacy and support, health and safety, education and training, employment guidance and confidence and capacity building.

The project involves improvements to the existing SPMA centre, at Corbett Street with the help of a £249,000 grant from Smethwick Regeneration Partnership and a further £60,000 from Harborne Parish Lands Charity.
