Staff within oral health promotion can provide a support network to any member of the dental team in the general practice setting.

Dental surgery assistants who have embarked on the course for oral health education BTEC qualification, are often referred to Sandwell's oral health promotion team from the course tutor in Birmingham. We can offer help with loaning resources and equipment and for the Dental nurses to view training sessions out in the community.

Oral health promotion staff have also undertaken smoking cessation training with General Dental Practitioners and at present the oral health promotion dept is co-ordinating a new baby dental registration project to increase dental registration for pre-school children.
