Pregnancy Phase

Week 1: Nutritional Information; salt, sugar, fats and balanced diets. The Link between nutrition and the development of the growing baby/child. Benefits we get from being active whilst pregnant.

Week 2: Understanding food labels, foods to avoid whilst pregnant.

Week 3: Information on breastfeeding and the Healthy Start Scheme.

Week 4: Information on weaning. Comparing commercial foods and homemade foods. Good food hygiene practice. Information on physical development of the baby in the womb.


Post Pregnancy Phase

Week 1: Nutritional Information; salt, sugar, fats and balanced diets. The link between nutrition and the development of the growing baby/child. Benefits we get from being active and setting an activity goal.

Week 2: Understanding food labels. Introducing weaning and government guidelines.

Week 3: Examples of baby food textures for different stages. Guides to portion sizes. Healthy Start Scheme. Reviewing your activity goal.  

Week 4: Information on the stages of development in the first 12 months. Providing practical ideas encouraging an active role in the development of their infant.


Family Phase 1 (6-12 months)

Week 1: Nutritional Information; salt, sugar, fats and balanced diets. The importance of active play for children.

Week 2: Understanding food labels and how a parent can support their child in active play.

Week 3: Information on physical development in the first 12 months. How can parents help this development?

Week 4: Reinforcing the stages of development through a film documentary. The importance of sleep, and parent’s worries and fears.

Week 5: Information on weaning. Tips on tackling/avoiding fussy eating. Information on the Healthy Start Scheme.

Week 6: Practical cooking session. Information on food and safety when preparing food for babies. 

Week 7: Menu planning. Feedback on what participants have learnt throughout the programme.
Week 8: Salop drive market Garden trip.

At the end of each session a half an hour play session is included, with play focused upon your child’s development. You will receive a free piece of play equipment each week, to help build up your play bag. Also once you have completed the programme you will receive a free goody bag containing a plate, bowl, beaker and cutlery set.


Family Phase 2 (1-3 years)

Week 1: Nutritional Information; salt, sugar, fats and balanced diets. The importance of active play for children.

Week 2: Understanding food labels and how a parent can support their child in active play.

Week 3: How parents behaviour might have a negative effect on their child’s behaviour and fussy eating.

Week 4: Establishing good routines, and the importance of sleep. Preparing a day’s menu.

Week 5: Becoming more confident cooking balanced meals for the family and a practical cooking session.

Week 6: Supermarket visit putting into practice what we have learnt.

Week 7: Practical cooking session.

Week 8: Salop Drive Market Garden trip.
