Helping young people work for themselves
The needFor many young people, unemployment or casual low paid jobs are a reality of adult life. Self employment can often be their only option to achieving financial independence. However, lack of collateral and qualifications prevent many from turning their business ambitions into reality.
Who we helpThe Prince's Trust helps 18-30 year olds who are unemployed or under employed and of limited means to start their own businesses. The Trust also helps young people from minority groups, people with disabilities and ex offenders, who experience particular difficulties in finding employment.
Eligible applicants will have been refused finance from all other sources. They also need to have a good business idea and the determination to turn it into reality.
In reality, the Prince's Trust provides soft loans, bursaries and on-going business support during the first three years of trading to help the fledgling business succeed.
