We aim to work primarily with the Irish community, raising awareness of health issues and keeping the community informed about cultural and social events.  Although we work primarily with the Irish and Irish Travelling community, we always look for ways of extending partnership working to other ethnic groups to promote cohesion within the borough of Sandwell.

Sandwell Irish Community Association is located in Langley High Street, Oldbury.  We raise awareness of health issues around general and mental health and promote social and cultural events via our Gaelic language and Celtic art class and dances. 

We endeavour to promote community cohesion by working closely with other groups in Sandwell and are part of the Community Health Network within the PCT.  We are actively looking to recruit more people to volunteer in order to help grow and expand the services we offer.

 We are involved with a number of health initiatives and are actively looking at creating working partnerships with other groups and organisations to help us achieve our goals.   We have taken on the management role of an A2/A8 Outreach Worker in partnership with St Johns Community Association in Rood End.  Initially, the Outreach Worker will gather evidence of the needs of A2/A8 communities including the Roma Gypsy community and other hard to reach communities.  It was thought we were best placed to take on this role because of the success we have had with Irish Travellers.  We are now working with schools and other agencies to help with this work.
