Smethwick Summit Canals Project | Print |

Enhancing the canal environment and making this important green space a well used and enjoyed community resource is one part of Smethwick Summit Canals Project. Smethwick's canals have played a vital role in the development of the area both historically and today. This is your chance to become involved in shaping there future.

This new Heritage Lottery funded project will build on the work of 2 previous projects. In partnership with British Waterways a number of large restoration works will be carried out including work to Smethwick Bridges and Bromford Bridges. This is combined with environmental work including improvements to the access along the canal and management of the bank side vegetation.

There are many ways of becoming involved with the project anything from taking part in a canal art day, healthy walk or practical conservation day to joining a canal Watch Group or the Canals for Communities group. These are just a few of the types of activities we can work together to deliver through this exciting new project.
