As part of National Men’s Health Week (9th-15th June), Sandwell Primary Care Trust (PCT) is asking employers in the borough to actively encourage their male employees to be more health aware.
Workwell is run by the PCT to offer specialist advice to local employers in improving the health and wellbeing of their workforce.
Speaking about Workwell, Mary Fairfield, Choosing Health Manager for the PCT said: “Workwell provides employers with advice, support and resources to put health and wellbeing at the top of their agenda.
“Many of us know the old saying ‘a healthy workforce is a happy workforce’ and I think that still rings true today. When you consider that in Britain, full-time employees work the longest hours in Europe, ill health prevention needs a bigger focus in the workplace.”
Mary added: “Having the opportunity to learn about health benefits whilst at work can make it easier for men to keep tabs on their health.
“Workwell can help local businesses in Sandwell to organise health assessments, provide a range of health awareness sessions and introduce health improvement programmes. It’s all part of our overall aim for employers to start really taking care of their workforce, both men and women.”
If any local businesses or employers would like advice or further information about Workwell, please contact 0121 557 4733. |
