On Sunday 31 August, the Great British Duck Race 2008 will take place. Up to 250,000 rubber ducks will be sent down the River Thames to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for UK Charities and set a new World Record.
The ducks will be released from their holding pen at Moseley Lock, near Hampton Court Bridge at 1.30pm into a 1 km channel of the River Thames - the natural current taking them down the course. It is anticipated that the race will take around 2-3 hours to complete. The ducks will be dropped in to the holding pen and released completly at random. Each duck is individually numbered and the first duck to cross the finish line will be deemed the winner of the £10,000 cash prize. Further superb prizes will be awarded to the next 30 ducks that cross the line.
You can even go along and support your duck(s)!! Refreshments will be available along the course.
It is just £2 to adopt a duck for the race BUT BE AWARE you will need to make an additional donation if you wish CARES to benefit.
So get 'Quacking' and log onto the direct site and select CARES from the drop-down menu: www.thegreatbritishduckrace.co.uk/adopt.new.php
