ShOUT’ ('shout OUT, be loud and proud') is the new steering group that has recently been established by Sandwell Youth Service to drive forward the commitment of re establishing an LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) Youth provision in Sandwell.  The commitment by Sandwell Youth Service to create the new provision is driven by the fact that the Borough lost a project called ‘Space’ over a number of years ago and this wasn’t replaced until now.

Sandwell is the only borough in the Black Country to have no service and this has encouraged and spear-headed the commitment and involvement of local councillors and SMBC to support and take responsibility of re-establishing the service.

Supported by National and local agendas in particular the ‘Every Child Matters’ key outcomes Safety, Health, Achieving & enjoying, Positive Contribution, Economic wellbeing), the Youth Service aims to work in partnership with Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people living in Sandwell to establish a new service.

Some Young people from The Sandwell Youth Parliament and the Shadow Youth Cabinet have already started the work and have been involved since the early developments and consultation at senior council level. As the steering group gets off to starting the development, we are keen to encourage LGBT young people living in Sandwell to help us with the setting up of this project so that we can get it right.
