Faith in the Black Country (FIBC) was established in 1986, the project works across the four Black Country Boroughs of Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall.
The projects Aims and Objectives are:
AimsThe project provides direct services to young people in partnership with other agencies. Thus enabling work with individuals and community groups to establish a range of local services e.g. to tackle poverty, health problems etc. Volunteering is actively encouraged and offers a wide range of training.
Objectives1. To use community development principles of collective action, sharing resources, consultation and working in partnership. 2. To work to provide needs led youth work to young people through partnership 3. To establish initiatives on behalf of the community.
Outreach WorkDelivering a service to young people who are at risk of anti-social behaviour. This is done by Barnados in partnership with local community centres and the Youth Service. The work has seen an increase in activities for young people in the area of reduction in vandalism. It has also helped strenghen links between the local community centre and the young people in the area.
Sexual HealthDelivering a service to predominately young Asian women with regard to Sexual Health and the issues of Teenage Pregnancy. One of the boroughs that we work in has a high number of teenage parents. Barnados is working with the Local Authority and Health Authority and other partners to help reduce Teenage Pregnancy levels.
Drop In FacilityDelivering a service to young people at risk of anti-social behaviour and substance misuse. This is done by Barnados in partnership with the local Church and Local Authority. In addition, the project also takes a lead in bringing together agencies in the area that are working with young people, encouraging agencies to take a proactive and co-ordinated approach.
Community DevelopmentDelivering a service on a housing estate. Helping children, young people and families access resources and systems to help make their lives better. This is done by Barnados in partnership with Sandwell Children's Fund and Local Authority.
Safeguarding ChildrenAs a Child Care Agency, we support and work within the values of Safeguarding Children as specified in "Every Child Matters".
