The Mobile Unit, staffed by the healthy lifestyle team, forms parts of Sandwell Primary Care Trust’s Joint Policy Unit. The mobile unit promotes what is broadly known as healthy lifestyle services that includes, stopping smoking, physical activity, mental health and healthy eating. The team specialise in providing a high quality, well resourced health information and advice service for local people by using a mobile unit that can be booked to provide a borough-wide service.
The mobile unit promotes Smoke-free SandwellThe team provides information in a range of formats including interactive material to fully engage with people and communicate health messages. As well as health information and advice the unit offers health assessments, give-away health promoting goodies and refers people into services. A follow up service for people seen at the unit is also offered to all people referred or signposted to local services to track people’s lifestyle changes, giving them encouragement and ongoing support.
Displays, information and advice at community venuesThe team will set-up displays, provide health information and advice at community venues.
Health education sessionsThe team provide health education sessions for existing community groups, workplaces, colleges and schools using a variety of visual aids and health material to educate people on healthy lifestyle topics and raise their awareness of the local services available to them.
