Macmillan Bridges Support Service | Print |

Bridges is managed by Murray Hall Community Trust, a registered charity and is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and Sandwell and Heart of Birmingham Primary Care Trust (PCT).

Bridges in Sandwell supports people living with cancer at any stage of the illness and also patients with non-malignant palliative care needs.  Bridges in Heart of Birmingham supports people living with cancer at any stage of their journey.

We offer…

  • Help with domestic tasks in the home
  • Someone who can sit with the patient so the carer can have a break
  • Someone who really understands what you are going through
  • Help to find reliable information
  • Help to access benefits and manage your finances
  • Help to find spiritual support
  • Volunteers to drive you to hospital appointments

Bridges support people in Sandwell and Heart of Birmingham Primary Care Trusts, so if you are registered with a GP practice in this area, you will be able to access the services we offer.

Volunteering Opportunities

Bridges volunteers make a positive difference by giving their time to support people living with cancer.  You can volunteer in the following ways…

  • Becoming a volunteer driver – drive patients and their carers to their hospital appointments
  • Becoming a befriender – visit people affected by cancer at home or in the community
  • By providing other support, such as office support or at a self help and support group.

You can choose how much time you commit to volunteering and you will be supported in your role by the coordinators at Bridges
