School Bike Clubs are now established at a number of schools across Sandwell and involve cycling activities during curriculum and extended school time. The main objective is to encourage more regular cycling amongst children and young people as part of a healthier lifestyle.
The School Bike Club concept also promotes a better knowledge of cycle maintenance. It aims to increase a better understanding of safer road cycling through accredited cycle training. To demonstrate how to safely navigate the local and regional waterways, green corridors and open spaces. Hopefully children and young people will then increase their activity levels, participate in more regular cycle rides and enjoy the local area its heritage.
