The Sandwell Bereavement Support Centre was launched on April 1st 2009.

Caring staff can offer help to notify the council, government and other organisations of a death.

Their assistance makes it easier to inform Sandwell Council's departments when someone has died, such as council tax, housing benefit and social services, as well as notifying the Passport Office, Post Office, Pension Service, Centro, TV Licensing and the hospital.

They can also provide information about seeking help with funeral costs, bereavement benefits and probate.

Staff can answer questions about the funeral process, burial, cremation, memorials, cemeteries and any other queries people may have.

When the bereaved contact the Register Office to make an appointment to register a death, they have the option to see a bereavement support officer.

Appointments with the Bereavement Support Service are available from 9.15am to 4.15pm (not including 1-2pm) Monday to Friday at Sandwell Register Office at High Street, West Bromwich.

To make an appointment, call 0121 569 2491.
