Quality Assurance for Information and Advice (development and provision)

A multi agency group, made up of information and advice providers, commissioners and officers from across Adult and Community Services, the Primary Care Trust, Voluntary Sector and Mental Health Trust, recognised the need for agreed best practice guidelines.

This followed on from work done by this multi agency group and supported by Sandwell Public Information Network and the Joint Policy Unit. Support for information providers on the quality assurance of public information development and provision will include:

  • Promoting quality assurance amongst the agencies and partners.
  • Providing guidance and best practices.
  • Evaluating and recommending national and international standards, where appropriate.
  • Providing a list of relevant training courses and tools.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the quality of information and information provision.

This is a current area of focus and additional sections will be added as they become available.

  • Quality Assurance - Best Practices and Guidelines

The following web pages contain some best practices and guidelines to help with the provision and production of information.

  • Quality Assurance for websites

These organisations give advice and best practice for the provision and accessibility of information in websites.

  • Quality Standards

There are a number of nationally and internationally recognised quality standards that wholly or partially cover the provision of information. Usually certification is awarded following a successful externally assessed accreditation although some of the standards have a self assessment option.

There are costs associated with the accreditation process.
