The G.A.P. Project | Print |

The G.A.P. Project provides temporary housing with support and care for young single homeless people, young couples with or without children, and young people leaving local authority care in Sandwell.

The G.A.P. Project is a joint project with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Housing Department and Sandwell Homeless and Resettlement Project Limited (S.H.A.R.P.).

Sandwell Housing Department have appointed S.H.A.R.P. as the Managing Agent drawing apon the specialised services to manage the scheme on behalf of Sandwell Housing Department.

S.H.A.R.P. is a non-profit making organisation which provides intensive housing management, support and care to young people who may have multiple needs to sustain a tenancy and equip a young person to live independently.

S.H.A.R.P. works in partnership alongside a range of other agencies to offer a comprehensive approach to the problems homeless young people face.

The Project was established in 1992 originally in a multi storey block of flats in Albright House, Lion Farm, Oldbury. The project consisted of 20 flats dispersed through the high rise block.

The High-Rise Strategy report for Sandwell identified Albright House as requiring a substantial investment in the forthcoming years to bring it up to the required standard therefore it was selected for demolition.

A low rise block, Selby House became available in the same area to rehouse the project which consisted of 30 flats.
