Ring and Ride

Ring and Ride provides door to door transport for people of all ages who find it difficult or impossible to reach a bus stop or get on or off ordinary buses. Our buses have low entrance steps and tail lifts to ease boarding and are equipped to carry wheelchair users, without the need to transfer to a seat. Drivers are specially trained.

 

Ring and Ride is designed to provide short distance local journeys and because the buses are small they can reach most homes easily.We do provide longer distance journeys within the Borough, subject to buses being available. If you want to go further afield we will make every effort to link up with other local accessible buses and trains.

 

Remember: Ring and Ride is for people who have difficulty in getting about - if you can use ordinary buses please do, you will be letting someone who can't, use the service.

  

When does Ring and Ride operate?

 

Ring and Ride operates from 8am to 11pm seven days a week including Bank Holidays.

  

How much will I pay?

Ring and Ride users pay a fare similar to that charged to travel on ordinary buses. However holders of Centro Senior Citizen, Disabled and Blind Persons concessionary travel passes travel free. Children under 5 travel free and children between the ages of 5 and 16 are charged half fare.

Companions travelling with registered users also pay a fare but can travel free if they have one of the above passes.

 

Centro's Centro Card and Bus Master cards are also accepted.

  

How do I use Ring and Ride?

When you telephone Ring and Ride for the first time our staff will tell you all about Ring and Ride and answer your questions.

 

You will be asked for your name, address and telephone number and a few simple questions about why you have difficulty using public transport.

  

Booking a journey

  • Booking is usually by telephone two days before you want to travel, but you can also book the day of travel or the day before travel.
  • When you book with us you will be given the booking line number and the booking times. You should use this number to book further journeys.
  • When you book make sure to arrange your return journey if you want one.
  • Please be flexible about the time of your journey, you will have a better chance of getting one if you are. This is because the service is very popular, with many users trying to book popular times.
