Ring and Ride
Additional Information

Getting together/ popular destinations

Whilst Ring and Ride does not offer a block booking service for organised groups, you can book a number of people with one call. If up to 4 users live close together and can organise to travel together, please do so - it will help us to help you.

We run some buses to popular shopping centres, clubs, churches etc. where a number of users travel to regularly. Ask your local depot for details of their pre-scheduled services if you think that they could help you.

Companions of passengers

Passengers are encouraged to bring someone along to assist them if they wish. Companions will travel free if they have a Centro Senior Citizen, Blind or disabled pass, or other Centro travel pass, otherwise they pay the normal Ring and Ride fare. They do not need to be registered with Ring and Ride themselves but must be travelling with a registered user.

Dogs

If you have a guide dog or a hearing dog it can come too, free of charge. Unfortunately, for the comfort and safety of all passengers, other dogs and pets are not normally allowed on our services.

Children

Children who are eligible to use the service are encouraged to travel on Ring and Ride either accompanying a registered user or as users themselves. Young children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult. If in doubt check with your local Ring and Ride service.

What we don't do

We dont provide trips to hospitals for people who have hospital appointments and are attending for treatment. If you have difficulty with this type of journey you should speak directly to your doctor's office, the hospital or clinic, so that they can arrange hospital transport.

We don't duplicate services provided by Social Services and Education Departments. If you attend a centre run by your local authority, check with them first to see if transport is available. If it is not, we may be able to help you.

Safety

All seats on our buses are fitted with seat belts. You should use them. If you have any difficulty ask the driver to help. If you have a medical condition which prevents you from wearing a seat belt please let us know.

Do not move about the bus while it is in motion. Please do not leave your seat or try to get off the bus until the driver is in a position to help you. If you feel that you need assistance in boarding or alighting from the bus, please ask the driver to assist you.

Wheelchair users must board and alight using the lift, the wheelchair must be clamped in position by the driver and the special passenger seat belt must be worn. Do not under any circumstances take the brake off your wheelchair when the rear doors of the bus are open until the lift is fully raised and the driver is in position to help you.

Our buses are not designed to carry heavy luggage or large electric wheelchairs and scooters as they cannot be secured properly.
