The  Warm Front scheme was launched in June 2005 and is available to people who are on certain income or disability-related benefits and own their own home or rent it from a private landlord.

The  Warm Front grant  provides heating and insulation improvements to all age groups up to the value of £2,700. Some homes that need oil central heating may receive a grant of up to £4,000.

The new Warm Front grant may offer the following improvements:

• Insulation: Heating:
• Loft insulation Gas, electric or oil central heating
• Draught-proofing Repairs to your existing heating system
• Hot-water-tank insulation Converting a solid-fuel open fire to a glass fronted fire
