Asha is a community led initiative managed by the Bangladeshi Women's Association (Tipton), working from the Tipton Muslim Centre to address the needs of the local community.  The project is funded by the National Lottery Charities Board and works closely in partnership with various other organisations and agencies.

 

Mission Statement

  • To enhance the quality of life for the local community by providing an advocacy service.
  • To empower Asian women through training, advice, information an support to build up self confidence so that they can become advocates for themselves and the wider community in which they live.

The project works to positively improve the lives of service users using various means and offers a confidential advice service on all personal and consumer issues including:

  • Housing - rent and council tax
  • Health - advice and information on all health matters
  • Education and Training - assessing needs and linking you with the right course
  • Employment - help with job applications and job matching
  • Consumer Debt and Financial Issues - advice and information
  • Welfare Rights - advice on benefits
  • Immigration - nationality and passports
  • Family and Children - divorce and separation, bereavement and children disputes

Services are available in Sylheti, Mirpuri, Urdu, English, Punjabi and Gujarati.
