BCWDN Values

BCWDN aims to :

  • Take into consideration the different developmental stages of women's groups, and accept the need to engage with groups using ways that are most appropriate;
  • Be innovative and risk taking in its approach and ways of working;
  • Be an organisation that listens and responds to women's voices to ensure that it reflects their ideas and views;
  • Work in a collaborative and co-operative way that is mutually beneficial to all women involved;
  • Challenge inequalities specifically related to gender at local, sub-regional and regional levels;
  • Challenge women and women's groups to think and act in a collective way on a long-term basis.

If you are interested in talking to someone about any of the issues raised please contact the BCWDN staff on the contact details below.

BCWDN's History

The Black Country Women's Development Network (BCWDN) has been running since January 2001, and is a project which builds on development work carried out with women's groups who have received money from the Women's Development Fund in earlier years. Groups which provided feedback from this work identified the following needs:

  • Training and development for group members, and skills to network with other groups
  • New resources and opportunities to encourage self esteem and well being
  • Practical workshops, opportunties for networking and information sharing.
