Mothers at Heart | Print |

Becoming a mother is a shock to all aspects of our being; physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, economic and social. As new mothers we all need support and affirmation in every one of these areas. This need is often unrecognised and unmet, hence the prevalence of unhappiness which goes under the name of "Postnatal Depression".

Who we are

We are a self help group for mothers who have experienced post natal depression. We have all had different experiences, but we can all identify with one another. By supporting each other and sharing our experiences we not only find help for ourselves but help for one another.

We meet each week and offer support through discussion and sharing and talking about our day to day difficulties in a relaxed environment.

What else do we do?

Besides talking things through with one another and being supportive we aim to provide the following:

  • Regular activities to boost self esteem and confidence i.e. aerobics, crafts.
  • Invited speakers on relevant topics.
  • Creche facilities.
