Sandwell Children’s Fund aims to offer early support to improve the life chances of children and young people to enable them to achieve their full potential. The focus is on prevention to provide early support to children and families before crisis point is reached.

We are working with schools, local agencies and community groups to provide services to support 5-13 year olds and their families within eight Sandwell neighbourhoods:

Galton Village, Grace Mary, Great Bridge, Harvills Hawthorn, Hateley Heath, North Smethwick and Albion Estate, Tantany and Tibbington Estate.

The Sandwell Children’s Fund Board is responsible for managing and developing the Sandwell Children’s Fund programme.

The Board comprises:

• Voluntary Sector representatives (from which the Chair and Vice Chair are appointed)
• A representative from each of the six Local Implementation Groups
• Statutory representatives (including Health, Education, Children’s Services, Youth Offending Team and Police)

Strategic direction for the Board is provided by the Children and Young People’s Trust which is part of Sandwell’s Local Strategic Partnership structure. This relationship ensures that the programme operates within Sandwell’s strategic framework for children’s services and enables the Sandwell Children’s Fund to contribute to strategic developments.

We recognise the importance of local knowledge in developing services that will meet local needs and have a strong commitment to working with the community and voluntary sectors.
