The Bangladeshi Islamic Centre is a community organisation based in North Smethwick that provides numerous services to the local community.
The Bangladeshi Youth Outreach Project was established in 2000 in order to focus on and address the following issues: - To work primarily with at risk young people aged 12-24 from the Bangladeshi community
- To focus on the health needs o the young Bangladeshi community
- To address issues in respect of educational attainment and unemployment
- Increase recreational and sporting activities
- Target and address issues of community safety
- Prevent and reduce drug related offences
- Develop relationships with Bangladeshi young people to empower and encourage their participation in the community
